Hahahaha! Fooled you! I have nothing to say that wouldn't include the kiddo. Just letting you know I'm still here.
----
Actually, I do have something worthy of mention: a phone call I received yesterday. It was a woman in the moms' group I belong to, calling to let me know she was stalking me. She had come across mrtland in the past, and again more recently, only to realize that she knew me (ha! I didn't ask her, but figured it must've been my hat post that tipped her off). Also, in light of my post about Jem taking a bottle successfully, she wanted to remind me that Moms' Night Out was that night. Unfortunately, mister mrtl has been sick and night is Jem's worst time of day for screaming and puking, so I took a pass.
I'm almost surprised by my reaction to learning about this discovery. You'd think I'd be freaked out by it (I thought I'd be freaked out about it), but it didn't bother me. Funny how that works. I've gotten so comfortable with sharing the TMI that it doesn't phase me. Thinking about it, it shouldn't. I get so hyped up about meeting fellow bloggers, those who have possibly read all about me before meeting me, so why would it be a bad thing for someone who I barely know to have access to this information? I don't think I'll be including my blog address in my email siggy anytime soon, though.
R, if you're still visiting, thank you for being forthcoming.

Oh, something else... Side note to Sheryl: Sorry, but the window of opportunity to get a picture of my new do to post was too small. We took Bug out to dinner last night, and then Jem managed to puke on me not too long after Bug went to bed, requiring a shower. Who knows when I'll have time to do something with it on my own. Maybe someday... ::she thinks wistfully:: Still, it was great to get out to get it done. Luckily for mister mrtl, the child slept the entire time I was gone, awakening and screaming a minute before I got home.
----
Damn! How could I forget? Last night I had One Great Margarita, which I believe was my first margarita in Alaska. It was so great my teeth were getting numb before the level had gone down half an inch. Hee! I guess I can no longer call myself a two-drink drunk. What's cheaper than a cheap date? hmmm...
----
I'm trying to get over feeling badly about my lack of time and that commenting and responding to comments have taken a back seat to Mommying. While I'm several days/weeks behind in reading, I'm sure I'll catch up at some point. I have a gazillion audio posts to catch up on (can you blame me, Bucky? I won't listen to them while Bug is present, and am afraid I'll wake the baby if she's in the room, which she often is).
----
Hot damn! (Because I can't say "Cold damn!") It's supposed to snow here for the next few days. WTF? I thought we'd seen the end of it, but I guess not. This woman at WalMart the other day asked me if I was ready for breakup. I had to ask her what she meant by that (because really, isn't breaking up not a cheerful thing?). It's what they call it when things start to melt in Alaska, since during the winter it's cold enough to keep the white stuff (since turned to fairly solid stuff) present. Silly Alaskans. Like it matters. Kids are still wearing flipflops.

Apologies to anyone who read the first line and believed this would be a quickie.

I don't know how you manage writing posts,
with everything else you have in your life.
A toddler, an infant, husband, house,
and a job.
Yet you seem to get it all done. You are
a great writer.

Don't you just love how a haircut can make you feel so much better? I was in dire need of one and as soon as I found time, I got it!
WTF is up with this weather? We're supposed to get snow on Tuesday too! It was in the 70's last week! I was walking around in capris and no coat....now I'm going to have to pull out my frost-free?!
Good luck with catching up on your reading/commenting. I'm sure everyone understands though. :-)

I think you are doing the important things, you know taking care of kids & taking care of you. Catching up on comments can always wait. But babies and children never wait on you, they grow even when you are not watching.

Nina stole my comment! I agree that you have to take care of your family and yourself. We aren't going anywhere...Wait, I am! I'm moving back home to Florida in less than two weeks. So I'll be playing catch up on my reading and commenting too.
I'm do a haircut, maybe I'll go get one. Yeah!
Talk to you soon.

Don't you dare concern yourself with being guilty about being behind in the reading/commenting/blogging. The most important things are TAS, Jem, Bug, you, and sleep, not necessarily in that order.
We all totally get it. You'll be back around when time allows.
We blove you, man!

New hairdos make everything better, it seems!
Of course being mommy is job #1, don't ever feel bad about that! :)
We keep getting you Alaskan storms down here in CA, and while I enjoy the weather, the little flowers I had planted are not so keen on getting hailed on.

I'm amazed you even post, so please don't sweat about the comments!! I got a haircut and highlight a week ago, and it does sort of give you a new lease on life for a little while, doesn't it? Glad you got to get out!

That is cool that you were not weirded out by the "stalker". My wife just told one of the neighbors about P&B and I was little freaked.
Margaritas...hmmmmm.

Hiya mrtl, No worries. I do check in often, although I didn't used to before I knew it was you and I just figured out that I knew you and it wasn't the hat post, it was the first JEM post, you had posted on the mom's board also (that was quite the run-on sentence and didn't really make all that much sense).
I even included a link to my lame-o blog. No one I know reads it, so keep it on the DL or the QT or just don't tell anyone in the mom's group, I might want to talk about them there.
As far as my stalking, I was actually a semi-professional stalker back in the day, but in order to be worthy of my stalkerness, you would have had to have been male. Scary. Anyway, my stalking of you was quite innocent and accidental really. So I'm glad you didn't freak out.
What is really neat is that you actually talk to other bloggers that I have been reading! I'm sitting here thinking, oh man! mrtl is one popular blogstress! My first blog read was Dooce also.
Well I won't take up any more of your time. I really should have had some coffee before I posted this.

Hmm this is strange... yesterday I swore I left you a comment, re: breakup.
Maybe I'm just losing my marbles. Wouldn't be too hard to beleive.
Rachel - welcome to mrtland! Did you know Scotty Hotpants posts here a lot too? (I saw him on your blogroll)

Kids wearing flip-flops in cold weather. Go figure! I'll never understand it. The college girls here come to parties dressed in tiny, tiny skirts. Bare legs and sandals. IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER!!! It's all about fashion and not at all about being warm.
Posted by: wordgirl | 2006.03.20 at 03:48 PM
Ummmm yeah...RE: the snow now that it is SPRING...WTF is that all about?
It's Flip-Flop Season, let the flip-flop wearing commence I say!
P.S. My arms get tingly after 1/2 a beer...sometimes my teeth get numb too, it's hard to tell because I can't feel them.

Glad to have a chance to katch up, Mrtl. I bin busy myself and overwhelmed with the millions of posts to catch up on...
I used to put my blog address in my email signature, but no longer. I don't need every tom dick and hairy having instant access to it. Glad you had your margarita!
Posted by: Amy | 2006.03.20 at 06:17 PM
Want to know where to get the BEST margarita in Anchorage? Simon and Seaforts! Their scratch margaritas are the best EVER! I dream about them when I'm pregnant (and I'm not a drinker!)
Posted by: Amber | 2006.03.20 at 06:52 PM
I thought I already posted a comment but I guess I did not. Shows you where my head is.
Glad you got to enjoy a margarita.
It is supposed to snow 6-8 inches here tonight.
Damn that March lioness bitch.

Seriously, the fact that you make time to post AT ALL has me ALL in awe of you. Mine are all in school and I'm feeling overwhelmed a good majority of the time...
Plus, I for one LOVE hearing about the babycakes, so feel free to keep it up. You know, for me? Because the world revolves around my every whim?
Cool!
I'll think of you as I watch AI tonight, mrtl, dear.

Wow, I had a hard time trying to just shower with a 4 year old and newborn. You are doing great!
Posted by: lawbrat | 2006.03.21 at 02:29 PM
Do you take special vitamins or something to keep up with all this? RedBull? Rockstar?
btw, I thought in Alaska they /only/ say "cold damn." learn something new every day.
Glad to hear (read) you're doing so well. You amaze me.
