Dear mister mrtl,
Effective immediately, I will be doing the white laundry as well as Bug's. Why? I can not express in words how incredibly giddy it made me to smell the loads of white I did today in all their bleachy glory. It was a sort of high for me, one I would not get by merely smelling clean laundry from your baskets (if you were to use bleach, that is). I need it hot... er, fresh from the dryer.
Besides, I learned today that Bug is one hell of a Sock Sorter. Planted on our bed, she busied herself making a ginormous sock pile of the socks I threw at her, giggling incessantly, and she was amazingly adept at matching them up once the pile was finished. Who needs whistling while you work when there's a giggly Bug nearby?
I really hope you don't mind this departure from the routine we have followed for some time now. You are, of course, more than welcome to join us for sock sorting shenanigans.
Love you,
mrtl

Your hubby does laundry?
Bug sorts socks?
Where can I get a clone of the both of them?
I'm doing laundry too. What a way to ring in the New Year!

cheese louise, did i forget to say HAPPY NEW YEAR?! well, happy new year to you and yours. and i'll just come back later on to see if mr. mrtl flirts with you a little online. here's hoping ya'll are together this evening for midnight smoooches. :)

Momo - Nothing like starting the new year without piles of dirty laundry!
Raz - The quiet remains to be seen. We'll see how many neighbors are using fireworks tonight.
Happy New Year to you, too! We won't be up till midnight. Bug goes to bed at 7:30, and mister mrtl has already forewarned that he's beat after having trouble sleeping last night. I probably wouldn't make it past 10:30, especially since I didn't take a several-hour nap today.
T A-S - I'm on my sixth load right now. And -- sit down for this -- I'm putting it away as it's done. Yeehaw!

Hmmmmm...bleach. My kid sorts socks too. Sort of.
Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve. And I wish you a happy 2006.

well, at 8:00pm! your time, i'll be a-wishin' you a happy new year from down here in south louisiana. then you can happily go to sleep at 10:30pm, when most of the rest of the US has already retreated to 2006. :)

Happy New Year mrtl, mr. mrtl, Bug and Frida!
So is the love of bleachy laundry smell part of pregnancy or do you always enjoy that smell? Either way I completely understand! I crave the smell of laundry at the moment, not bleachy laundry, but I still get it.

OK, you're scaring me, because it sounds like you're NESTING. You have a couple of months to go yet, don't you??
Though I totally get all domestic around New Years, so I understand ;)

If you need more of a fix than you can get with your own clothes, I'd be willing to ship some of ours to you. I'm sure it would make J.P. oh-so-happy as he does much of our laundry.
Happy New Year!

William - We're strangers to danger here. lol
Raz - Thanks, dear! It's 9 now, and I'm going to fold up the last load of laundry and turn in, keeping my fingers crossed that the fireworks don't wake up Bug.
Bente - Mister mrtl has been doing our laundry for ages, so it's been a long time since I smelled the bleachy whites. Maybe it's pregnancy that caused the reaction; I don't know.
Andrea - hmmmm... baking... laundry... You're onto something. Wait and see what I have coming up next! lol - It's planned, just not executed.
Sharkey - Naaaaaaah! But thanks for the offer! Happy New Year!!

I am the only competent sock-sorter in our whole family and I'm getting DAMNED TIRED OF IT.

wordgirl - It's helpful that a lot of our socks have clearly distinguishable features. How about putting a little stitch of a different color on each? (I know, so Martha, and no, I don't do that.)

What is it about that euphoric bleach smell?
(sigh)

Mama Duck - It's pretty bad when I feel the need to contort myself to smell my socks. This isn't easy at 7 1/2 months pregnant.
