A spot has opened up for Bug at the child care place on base! It looks like she'll even be going back into the same room, which will make the adjustment back easier.
And, hey, can you believe how hot it is here? 39 degrees? Downright balmy, yo! I think I'm going to head to base to get all the paperwork taken care of while it's so nice out, considering we're expecting 6 inches tonight. GAH!
It'd be a damn shame not to celebrate pie day today, don't you think? (oh, yeah. you need the back story on that.)

Update: (On Bug's daycare, that is)
I went to Bug's current school to give the two weeks' notice (if necessary) and found that I didn't have to. They're waiting list is "crazy." With the long weekend next week, I figured it better to have Bug start at the new school after the holiday. Factoring in my parents' visit next week, Bug's last day there will be Tuesday. She can hang with Mom Mom and Popeye on Wednesday through Monday, and start on base on the following Tuesday.
Something I forgot to mention to you, mister mrtl, is that I went to the classroom after talking to the office. Since the teacher that Bug loves soooo much is going to be out of town next week, it meant that today was her last day with Bug; I had to tell her (the teacher, that is). When I told her, she reminded me that we have her phone number, and said she'd be happy to babysit sometime. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to help smoothe the transition.
Anyway, after that I headed to base to get the paperwork started and get the low-down on Bug's return. While waiting for the Person To Talk To, I worked on the paperwork in the lobby. One of Bug's old teachers walked by, stopped, and got a little giddy, asking, "Is she coming back??" When I affirmed, she asked if she'd be in the same room, which I didn't know yet. She said she hoped so, because they only have one girl in there now and FOUR open spaces. "Maybe you can request the old room." It was worth a shot...
Didn't happen. The Person To Talk To talked about how they shifted around the rooms to open spaces, so the room assigned would be her room. Whatev. Maybe the three old teachers will bitch enough to change that. Either way, she's going back, and that makes me very happy.

Hooray for Bug getting her spot back!

It's raining here. In North Dakota. In November. After waking up yesterday morning to 3 degrees. What is wrong with the weather?

I was going to make a joke about the six inches, but then I thought it might cross the line. I should have known no such line exists in mrtl land. :)

Man, I sure would like six inches tonight! It's just cold and dry here. Bah!

dang, i wasn't even thinking about "dirty six-inch snow" and i gots the dirtiest mind of 'em all. that should attest to how long it's been since i've seen six inches. (OF SNOW, PEOPLE! sheeesh.)

Bente - Turns up it's not in the same spot (unless her old teachers fight it, which is possible... I'll update the post, though with the story) Bummer - but at least it's the same building/playground/program.
T A-S - Honey... I said "we're expecting." Guess I should put an order in for the Strap-On Hollow PPA, huh? (Yes, I realize it's 6 1/2 inches. You'll get the bonus plan, baby.)
Susie - Oh, he will. tee hee
eclectic - Now it's just sounding sick.
Adrienne - Terrorists. They're responsible for everything.
Bente - Yeah, see the thing is that mister mrtl starts the joke, then goes to work a mids. Bastard.
Oh Dima. No comment.
William - His unique perspective, sarcastic wit and language mastery would certainly amuse. Maybe I can get him to write a guest post...
How about the story of the bubble lady?
Raz - That is sad. :(

Uh, no thanks

Bwwaahahaaa! Best comments ever.
Congratulations on everything working out for the best. My heart skipped a beat on the Bug daycare update. I was worried it was something bad.

T A-S - Party pooper. (pun intended - har har - As Alf would say, "I KILL ME!")
yonzie - I know - the daycare drama is close to your heart. All's good, and Mom Mom and Pops are more than thrilled to spend more time with Bug while they're here.

Aww, I'm so glad Bug gets to go back - I hope they manage to get her all the way back to her spot!
I'm so sad I missed the six-inch joke fest, lol.

Is there nothing to make your heart skip a beat like finding out that someone who is responsible and loves kids will take them off your hands for a few hours each week?
(sigh)
Congrats to you both!

Hooray for Bug being able to go back to the old school and hooray that she is not old enough to know what any of these 6 inches jokes are about.
Posted by: Jana | 2005.11.19 at 03:58 PM
And an offer of babysitting to boot. Excellent!

ya'll need to stop with the six inches. it's been, like, a year since i've seen six inches (of SNOW, people! sheeesh). dirty birds.
Posted by: RazDreams | 2005.11.20 at 09:10 PM
pea - That's ok. You still have the opportunity for the 12-inch one.
Mama Duck - Indeed. Just a few weeks ago we were #6 on the list, so I wasn't expecting the call at all.
Jana - lol
Kranki - I know! We'll have to take her up on it. She doesn't live that far away, and Bug loves her.
Raz - HA!

Awesome news all around!

I'm so glad Bug's daycare situation is looking up. A little stress off your shoulders.
Posted by: LadyBug | 2005.11.21 at 01:49 PM
Amy - Thanks!
LadyBug - Absolutely! It also means I have no excuse to not start hitting the gym on base. I need to get my ass moving.
