A magical thing happened -- by mistake -- on the train to Seward. Mister mrtl, annoyed at the continuous beeping Snappy makes, as well as the electronic shutter sound effect, asked me if I could turn it off. Something about the shutter sound being on was the reason the shutter response time was so slow. After turning it off, the shutter would actually react as soon as I touched it. No more super blurry pictures!
Now if only I could figure out the exposure settings.

Update: Where I think the moose is hiding:

I spotted the moose! Looks like it was a great trip. So pretty.

I love happy tech accidents. I wish I could happen onto a trick to make my camera faster. Oh, yeah, there's that one trick, the one where I buy a more expensive camera...

I'm SO trying that.
My life will be complete if I can make my shutter move faster.

Damned moose and their sneaky ways.

I still don't see the moose. Is he playing golf? Those look like golf-hole-marker flags, in that picture. Why are the holes so close together? And how does the moose swing the clubs? Those hooves must be pretty clumsy.

Ok, the place I thought I saw the moose is not where you're saying. Sooo, I didn't spot the moose, but I'm still very happy for you for finlly seeing one!

Those photos are beautiful. Is that with a D70???? Cause I want one of them.

Bente - I want to believe I see him, too, but it's all good. I saw me a moose! It only took, what? 89 days.
Kalki - I know! ::jumping up and down with you:: Thanks!!
Bucky - Figuring this shit out makes me a lot more happy with the camera. I'm not lusting after a D70 anymore. Well, maybe just a little.
Misfit - Fucking noise is annoying, anyway.
Danielle - Thank you, deeyah!
Cat - I posted my guess for you.
Raz - Thanks!!
yonz - You know how small they get when they turn sideways. Fucker.
Misfit - See above. :)
Kranki - I know. The nerve of the fucker to take off like that. Like he's never seen a train before.
Ladybug - I'm sure he spends way too much time at the beer cart.
Bente - I'm not sure that's the moose. Mister mrtl says he thinks it went that way, but wasn't sure I pointed it out right. I was too busy trying to zoom/focus/find him to keep my eye on him.
Catherine - Thanks! And nope - Snappy is a Panasonic Lumix. Meet him here. With the shutter speed issue, I was telling mister mrtl that I was ready to get rid of Snappy and go for the D70. No need for that now; I do need to learn camera terminology and how to work the damn thing, though.
