I do not have feet; I have paws that are wide and flat. I used to hate my feet; I thought they were ugly. Especially my baby toes, which are too small with a practically nonexistent nail.
Notice the past tense. Why and how the change of heart?
Story Time with mrtl
Mrtl's opinion toward her feet changed in the summer of 1999, when she took a cruise to the Bahamas with a bunch of people she had met online. She roomed with two other women, one of whom took pity on mrtl's foot loathing. She busted out her dark red polish and encouraged mrtl to let her paint them.
Mrtl had never had a pedicure before. Her toenails had never been painted before. She was stunned with the results. Instantly, mrtl adored her feet. They were so cute! Where did she get such cute feet?
Mrtl returned from that trip a changed mrtl. She now gets pedicures on a fairly regular basis. Mrtl now invests in loving her feet. (She also grabs a latte -- from now on one of those mocha yummies at Starbucks -- and gets her nails done, too.) Pregnancy pedicures were the absolute best!
What's funny are those longer periods between pedicures that sometimes occur, when the polish starts looking a little too ghetto and is removed. The nails start getting horrendously long and ragged. Even in these times, mrtl holds no shame. She fears not going out in public wearing open-toed shoes.

No matter what I will always hate my feet. Don't get me wrong - I am glad GOD gave me feet so that I can walk around, and I even can pick up things with my feet, like remote controls or baby toys or a bag of Doritos. But my feet look like flippers. They are so big, they actually resembly flippers. And I have horrible bunions so my feet aren't actually straight, but are bulbous right where my toes begin. So my foot resembles a duck's foot, or something. Alas, I have decided to live with my flippers. I even paint my flippers' nails to make them look like pretty flippers. One day, I will get the nerve to have flipper surgery, where they cut off the bunions. Then I will have normal human feet. For now, I will live with the flippers. So I envy you, Mrtl! I want to love my flippers for who they are!

You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out . . . .
I'm in!

I participated and even mentioned how desperately I need a pedicure right now! It's at that point now where I'm so embarrassed to have gone so long without one that I don't even want to go in! I'm totally going to have to though, it's swimming pool season and I'm a champion chaise-lounger at the pool.

I forgot it was feet day! Anyway, I don't have anything feety to say. But I did want to post some feet pix. I have to get them scanned, so I'll do a delayed feet day. My own feet, I am friendly enough with, but they've always had very visible veins, since I was little. My kid has them, too. But I still buy them nice shoes to wear.

ms mrtl, I wrote something about feet and love since I missed last week..... =)
Posted by: Weetzie | 2005.06.13 at 11:19 AM
I'm not participating... yet... though I may go home and write about feet...
but I wanted to tell you to ask your pedicurist if they will do the acryilic overlay on your tootisies. My pedicurist does a real super thing layer of acrylic before she paints, and it makes the paint last for freaking ever! I normally go about 6 weeks between pedicures (because I'm lazy) and they look just as good 6 weeks later.
Amazing...
Now if someone would just volunteer to worship my feet and the ground they walk upon, life would be a little more complete.

I, too, used to hate my feet. Ahh, the wisdom that is pedicures. Especially early on a Saturday morning in one of those big comfy massaging chairs! It is the best. My main problem: My friends complain that I get the same colors all the time!

I did it! I did it! :)
What's next week?! I might go for the two-peat, er, two-feet -- uh, I might do the Motif Monday thing again!

No way am I showing my feet. NO WAY. The Toe. You know? We've talked about this, mrtl. Good Lord, THE TOE!

You had to go and pick FEET as a motif, didnt cha Mrtl. I have some ugly arse feet. Like Katie, I got the bunions, among other horrible things. Wahh. I don't want to write about feet.
Posted by: Amy | 2005.06.13 at 07:03 PM
I've done my feet report, and even posted photos of my terribly ugly feet. Seriously, compare them to Kelly's and they look even worse.

Forget the feet. Why the HELL didn't you take us PEBBLES on a cruise? We met online too, you know.

mrtl, my feet post would end up sounding way too much like yours, so I have to abstain this week (and I missed last week too, dang it!). I don't really like my feet either, but I have noticed if I put nail polish on them, they are improved 100 times over. Except when there's some mosquito bite or something that I've scratched and picked at, and then they look horrid anyway :)
I love my kids' feet, though. Audrey has cute bony little toes that look like my sister's feet (which I always secretly admired). Aislinn has short stubby toes that look more like my dad's feet, but are so very cute in her little baby way. All five of us (me, my sister, my dad, and both my daughters) have feet flatter than a pancake.

I wrote a little bit about feet but you have to read to the end to see it.

I'm in, though just by the wire!!!
And I enjoyed your post and am quite envious. I don't have time to love my feet that way. So I hate them.

I totally HATE my feet girl. Not as bad as I used to but they are some ugly ass feet I got going on.

I read Weetzie's blog a lot. I read her foot and love topic and decided I would play along. I always love to find 'good' new blogs to look at, and yours looks very good...I will be reading the next few days. :)
