The longer I am with him, the more obvious it becomes that we have a seriously incompatibility.
I am a chocoholic, while mister mrtl doesn't like many sweets. This isn't a problem for us at all, it just means there's more for me. The issue has to do with candy storage in the house.
Mister mrtl is of the frozen candy camp. Hershey Nuggets, mini Snickers, Peppermint Patties, Thin Mints, whatever; they all get stored in the freezer.
I, on the other hand, like my candy as it was intended: soft and gooey. It's even better when it's all over my fingers and has to be licked off. Well into my 20's I ate Snickers bars by biting off all the chocolate first, picking out the peanuts next, then mushing the nougat and caramel together into a yummy, sticky ball.
I will admit that sometimes a cold treat isn't so bad. I don't mind the frozen Thin Mints. What I do have a problem with is having to gnaw on my goodies. Gnawing does not lead to instant gratification, and I'm all about the instant gratification.
I hereby take a stand against frozen candy. Honey, I have taken the Rolos out of the freezer. Frozen Rolos SUCK, and I'm not tolerating it. And don't you say they're in the freezer because they're yours and I'm not supposed to be eating them anyway; we both know what a joke that is.

Actually, miz mrtl, I couldn't care less how you store your rollos. And we ALL know that they are YOUR rollos...

Since it is indeed rare that I get to point things like this out to you...
You spelled ROLO wrong. Let me know if you'd like photographic proof. I'd be more than happy to oblige.
By the way, the thawed Rolos are much better, although my jaw is still hurting from my several attempts earlier.

Well, it ought to be Rollo if it's not :-) I can be wrong, you know!

I like what you have to say, you seem like a really nice person. Rock on!

Well, YYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS. Thank you, mrtl. We have the same situation in our house. Candy should be smooshy, with the possible exception, as you have allowed, of minty things. Anything with chocolate and caramel, or nougat (whatever that is), etc., must be room temp and smooshy. I have never heard this issue addressed before outside of my home. I thank you again.

Love your description of the way you eat the Snicks. That is the true sign of a chocoletta, when you have a METHOD of CONSUMPTION. I have my own meticulous system for eating a Crunchie bar so I understand.

Warm and gooey Rolos, I am with you there. Lay them out of a paper plate, 5-10 seconds in the microwave. Heaven!

Just an FYI to Anti-Stalker: Yes, I just ate some Rolos melted in the microwave and they were damn good.
Thanks again, Heartworks!

No problem. Came here from Dooce and after months of hanging around there I delurk to just to spread the Word of the Warm Rolo. Clearly I need help.

Girl, GET. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD! Are we married to the same man? Are we the same person? Are you eating a Snickers like that RIGHT THIS MINUTE? Because I AM! GAH! THE WEIRDNESS!
Okay, now that I've truly freaked you out, in my quaint, stalkerish way, I am SOOO TOTALLY in agreement with you regarding frozen chocolate treats. It's just NOT RIGHT. TGIM is weird. I tell him often.
BTW: I eat Twix by biting off the chocolate and caramel topping, savoring it (sometimes humming "mmmm, mmmmm" at random intervals), leaving the cookie portion for last. It's like sweet torture! 'Cause, of course, the cookie portion is crunchy, chocolately, and satisfying.
